Publication Ethics for Applied Health Administration (APPHA)

The Applied Health Administration (APPHA) journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This section outlines the ethical principles and responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, and editors.

1. Ethical Guidelines

All stakeholders in the publication process must adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

A. Authors

  • Originality: Authors must ensure that their work is original and does not plagiarize the work of others. Any use of the work of others must be properly cited.
  • Authorship: All authors listed in the manuscript must have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.
  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived as influencing the research.
  • Data Fabrication and Falsification: Authors must not engage in data fabrication or falsification, including manipulating data or omitting data that contradicts their findings.
  • Research Ethics: Research involving human subjects or animals must comply with ethical standards and obtain necessary approvals from relevant ethics committees.

B. Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and not share them with others or use their content for personal research.
  • Impartiality: Reviews must be conducted impartially, based solely on the quality and relevance of the manuscript.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence their assessment of the manuscript.

C. Editors

  • Fairness and Transparency: Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the quality and significance of the manuscript without regard to the authors’ identities or affiliations.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and not disclose any information about them to unauthorized parties.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must declare any conflicts of interest that may arise from their personal or professional relationships with authors or institutions.

2. Handling Misconduct

The APPHA journal takes publication misconduct seriously. Any suspected instances of plagiarism, data fabrication, or other ethical violations will be investigated thoroughly. Appropriate actions may include:

  • Rejection of the manuscript.
  • Retraction of published articles.
  • Notification to relevant institutions or authorities.

3. Compliance with Ethical Standards

All parties involved in the publication process are expected to comply with ethical standards established by the journal and relevant organizations, including:

  • Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)
  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)
