Scope and Manuscript Acceptance Policy

The Applied Health Administration (APPHA) journal enforces strict adherence to its defined focus and scope. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s thematic, methodological, or ethical boundaries are rejected 100% at the initial desk review stage without exception. Out-of-scope submissions include studies that are purely clinical without managerial or policy implications, laboratory-based research lacking relevance to healthcare administration, or topics that do not contribute to organizational, policy, or operational perspectives in health systems. During desk review, manuscripts are evaluated for compliance with COPE ethical standards, originality, plagiarism checks, completeness of administrative requirements (including ethics approval and informed consent), transparency of data, trial registration where applicable, adherence to reporting guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE), and declaration of conflicts of interest and funding. Manuscripts failing any of these criteria, including thematic non-alignment, will be immediately designated as “Rejected (Out of Scope)” and will not proceed to peer review. This policy ensures the publication of high-quality, ethically compliant, and thematically relevant research. All accepted content is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Note: Any submission outside APPHA’s defined scope or failing to meet COPE ethical standards will be fully rejected. This includes non-managerial clinical studies, purely laboratory research, or manuscripts lacking relevance to health administration, policy, or organizational management. Compliance with ethical, methodological, and reporting standards is mandatory for consideration.
