Plagiarism Policy for Applied Health Administration (APPHA)

The Applied Health Administration (APPHA) journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the academic publishing process. To ensure that all published works meet the highest standards of originality, citation practices, and ethical conduct, the journal has implemented the following plagiarism and citation policy:

1. Originality Requirement

  • All manuscripts submitted to APPHA must be original works and must not contain any plagiarized content. We require that manuscripts have a minimum originality threshold of 90%, meaning that no more than 10% of the content may consist of directly quoted or closely paraphrased material from other sources.

2. Plagiarism Detection

  • Turnitin AI: APPHA utilizes the Turnitin AI plagiarism detection tool to assess the originality of submitted manuscripts. This tool helps to identify similarities between the submitted work and existing literature, ensuring that proper attribution is given for any used material.

3. Reference Requirements

  • Credible Journal Sources: Authors are required to reference credible, peer-reviewed journals. The minimum standard for acceptable references includes:
    • SINTA 2: Journals listed under Indonesia's SINTA (Science and Technology Index) ranking of SINTA 2 or higher.
    • Scopus: Journals indexed by Scopus, ensuring international recognition and credibility.
    • CITSI: Journals indexed by the CITSI database, which reflects high-quality research publications.

4. Citation Tools

  • Mendeley Desktop: Authors are required to use Mendeley Desktop citation software to manage their references and citations. This ensures consistent formatting and ease of citation across all submissions. Manuscripts not complying with this standard will be returned to the authors for corrections.

5. Review Process

  • All manuscripts will undergo a plagiarism and citation check upon submission. If the Turnitin AI report indicates that the manuscript exceeds the allowable similarity threshold of 10%, it will be flagged for further review. In cases where inadequate references are cited or proper citation tools are not used, manuscripts will be returned for revision.

6. Consequences of Plagiarism or Inadequate Referencing

  • Plagiarism: Manuscripts found to have significant instances of plagiarism may be rejected immediately without further consideration.
  • AI-Generated Content: Manuscripts proven to contain content generated by artificial intelligence tools will be rejected immediately.
  • Poor Referencing: Manuscripts that do not cite credible sources (as outlined above) or fail to use Mendeley Desktop will be returned for revision. Persistent failure to adhere to these standards may result in rejection.

7. Author Responsibility

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work complies with the originality and citation requirements. Manuscripts should be written in the authors' own words, with proper attribution given to all external sources, including credible academic journals.

8. Appeals Process

  • Authors who wish to appeal a decision related to plagiarism or citation issues may submit a written request to the editorial office, along with supporting documentation, for reconsideration.
