Publication Process
Editorial Workflow
Publication Process
Sharia Economic Law Innovation (SELI)
Sharia Economic Law Innovation (SELI) follows a structured, transparent, and ethical publication workflow to ensure that every manuscript is processed fairly, professionally, and in accordance with scholarly publishing standards. The process is designed to support academic quality, double-blind peer review integrity, editorial independence, publication ethics, and timely communication between authors, reviewers, and editors.
1
Manuscript Submission
Authors submit manuscripts through the online submission system. Manuscripts must follow SELI author guidelines, journal template, ethical requirements, reference style, and submission document requirements. Authors should ensure that the manuscript is original, complete, and relevant to the journal’s scope.
2
Administrative and Technical Screening
The editorial office checks the completeness of submission files, author metadata, ORCID information, manuscript format, reference style, similarity report, and required ethical statements. Incomplete submissions may be returned to authors for correction before entering editorial assessment.
3
Initial Editorial Assessment
The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor evaluates the manuscript’s relevance to the journal scope, originality, academic contribution, writing quality, methodological appropriateness, and ethical compliance. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic criteria may be rejected or returned without external review.
4
Similarity and Ethical Compliance Check
Manuscripts are checked for similarity, originality, citation integrity, authorship transparency, conflict of interest disclosure, and responsible use of AI tools where applicable. Manuscripts with plagiarism, fabricated references, unethical content, or unsupported claims may be rejected.
5
Double-Blind Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are assigned to independent reviewers with relevant expertise. SELI applies a double-blind peer review model, where author and reviewer identities are concealed. Reviewers evaluate originality, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, clarity, ethical compliance, and relevance to sharia economic law and related fields.
6
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer recommendations and editorial judgment, the editor may decide to accept, request minor revision, request major revision, reject, or request resubmission. Authors receive a decision letter containing reviewer comments and editorial guidance.
7
Revision and Author Response
Authors must revise the manuscript according to reviewer and editorial comments. A detailed response letter must be submitted, explaining how each comment has been addressed. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the editor or returned to reviewers when necessary.
8
Final Acceptance
After the manuscript satisfies academic, ethical, and editorial requirements, the final acceptance decision is issued. Authors may receive a formal Letter of Acceptance after the manuscript has been approved for publication.
9
Copyediting, Layout, and Proofreading
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, language polishing, reference checking, metadata verification, layout formatting, and proofreading. Authors may be asked to review proofs carefully before online publication.
10
DOI Assignment and Online Publication
Final articles are published online on the SELI journal platform. Article metadata is prepared for DOI assignment and scholarly discoverability. Published articles become openly accessible to readers under the journal’s open access policy.
11
Post-Publication Maintenance
SELI maintains the scholarly record through article metadata management, archiving readiness, correction procedures, and post-publication communication when necessary. Corrections, updates, or retractions may be issued according to editorial and ethical policies.
Editorial Decision Categories
| Accept | The manuscript meets publication requirements and may proceed to production. |
|---|---|
| Minor Revision | The manuscript requires limited improvements before acceptance. |
| Major Revision | The manuscript requires substantial revision and may be re-evaluated. |
| Reject | The manuscript does not meet the journal’s academic, ethical, methodological, or scope requirements. |
Publication Ethics and AI Transparency
SELI supports responsible scholarly publishing. Authors must ensure originality, proper citation, transparent authorship, conflict of interest disclosure, and ethical use of AI tools. AI tools must not be used to create fabricated data, false references, manipulated results, or unsupported academic claims. Any AI assistance should be declared when applicable.
SELI is committed to maintaining a transparent, ethical, and academically rigorous publication process.
This workflow supports high-quality scholarly communication in sharia economic law and Islamic economic studies.
