CrossMark Policy

Sharia Economic Law Innovation (SELI)

Sharia Economic Law Innovation (SELI) is committed to maintaining the integrity, reliability, transparency, and permanence of the scholarly record. Through the CrossMark policy, SELI supports readers, authors, librarians, indexing services, and institutions in identifying the current and authoritative version of published articles. This policy reflects the journal’s commitment to responsible scholarly publishing, post-publication transparency, and long-term content reliability.

1. Purpose of CrossMark

CrossMark is a Crossref initiative that provides a standardized mechanism for readers to verify whether a published document is current or whether updates, corrections, retractions, or other editorial notices have been issued. By implementing CrossMark, SELI helps ensure that users can access the most reliable and up-to-date version of the scholarly record.

2. How CrossMark Works

When the CrossMark logo appears on an SELI article, readers may click the logo to access publication status information. The CrossMark record may show whether the article is current or whether any post-publication updates have been issued.

  • Verification of the current version of record.
  • Access to correction notices, retractions, updates, or editorial notes where applicable.
  • Improved transparency for article history and scholarly record maintenance.
  • Support for reliable citation, indexing, and academic referencing.

3. Types of Updates Covered

Corrections

Issued when errors are identified that do not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions of the article.

Retractions

Issued when an article is found to contain serious ethical, methodological, or reliability problems.

Expressions of Concern

Issued when significant concerns are under investigation but a final editorial decision has not yet been reached.

Addenda and Updates

Issued to provide additional information, clarification, or relevant updates connected to a published article.

4. Version of Record

The version of record is the final, formally published version of an article made available through the SELI journal platform. SELI is committed to preserving the integrity of this version while providing transparent notices if corrections, updates, retractions, or other editorial actions are necessary after publication.

5. Correction and Retraction Policy

SELI may issue post-publication notices when necessary to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the scholarly record. Editorial actions may be taken based on the nature and seriousness of the issue identified.

Minor Error A correction notice may be issued when the error does not affect the findings or conclusions.
Major Error A correction, clarification, or editorial note may be issued depending on the case.
Ethical Concern An investigation may be conducted and an expression of concern may be published if needed.
Serious Misconduct Retraction may be issued for plagiarism, fabricated data, invalid findings, duplicate publication, or serious ethical violations.

6. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and reliability of their published work. If authors discover an error after publication, they must notify the editorial office as soon as possible.

  • Report significant errors or inaccuracies after publication.
  • Cooperate with the editorial team during correction or retraction procedures.
  • Provide supporting documentation when requested by editors.
  • Maintain transparency regarding data, citations, conflicts of interest, and AI use where applicable.

7. Responsibilities of Editors and Publisher

Editors and the publisher are responsible for ensuring that post-publication updates are handled fairly, transparently, and consistently. SELI aims to preserve the scholarly record while providing clear documentation of any changes made after publication.

  • Evaluate post-publication concerns carefully and confidentially.
  • Issue corrections, updates, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary.
  • Maintain transparent links between the article and related notices.
  • Protect the integrity and accessibility of published content.

8. Metadata and DOI Integrity

SELI is committed to maintaining accurate article metadata, including title, author names, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, references, DOI information, publication dates, and article history. Accurate metadata supports indexing, citation tracking, discoverability, and long-term preservation.

9. Reader Guidance

Readers are encouraged to use the CrossMark logo to verify the current status of SELI articles. If a reader identifies an error, inconsistency, ethical concern, or possible issue in a published article, they may contact the editorial office for further review.
