Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Sharia Economic Law Innovation (SELI) is committed to uphold the highest standards of publication ethics to maintain the integrity and quality of scholarly communication. All authors, reviewers, and editors involved in the publication process are expected to adhere strictly to these ethical guidelines.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Ensure that the submitted work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Properly cite and reference all sources and avoid plagiarism in any form.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest related to the research or publication.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and results presented.
  • Declare if any part of the manuscript was generated or assisted by Artificial Intelligence tools, ensuring transparency.
  • Comply with ethical standards for research involving humans, animals, or sensitive data, including obtaining necessary approvals.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Conduct unbiased, objective, and timely reviews, maintaining confidentiality of manuscripts.
  • Identify potential ethical issues including plagiarism, duplicate publication, or conflicts of interest.
  • Provide constructive and respectful feedback aimed at improving the quality of the manuscript.
  • Decline review invitations if conflicts of interest or lack of expertise exist.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Manage the peer review process fairly, ensuring timely decisions based on academic merit.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of submissions and reviewer identities (double-blind review).
  • Handle ethical concerns and allegations of misconduct promptly and transparently.
  • Reject submissions that violate ethical standards, including plagiarism and fraudulent data.

4. Handling Misconduct

SELI adopts the guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and leading publishers such as Elsevier, Wiley, Emerald, and Clarivate to investigate and resolve any allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submissions, or unethical research practices. Appropriate sanctions will be applied, including retraction or banning of authors if necessary.

5. Open Access and Copyright

SELI operates under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0), allowing free access and reuse of published articles with proper citation. Authors retain copyright but grant the journal the right to publish and distribute their work.

By submitting manuscripts to SELI, authors agree to abide by these publication ethics guidelines to ensure the integrity and excellence of academic research in Islamic economic law.
