Reviewer Guidelines
Comprehensive instructions for reviewers to ensure high-quality, fair, and timely peer review of manuscripts submitted to the Journal International Economic Sharia (JIES).
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Evaluate manuscripts impartially and objectively, focusing on originality, methodology, relevance to Islamic economics, and ethical compliance.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the manuscript and related data before publication.
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest with the authors or subject matter.
- Provide constructive, detailed, and professional feedback to authors to improve manuscript quality.
- Adhere to the deadlines assigned for review to ensure timely publication.
Peer Review Process Overview
JIES implements a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers do not know the authors’ identities and vice versa, ensuring impartiality. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two qualified experts in Sharia Economics, Islamic Finance, or related disciplines.
Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers are expected to assess the manuscript using the following criteria:
- Originality & Contribution: Does the research provide new insights, theories, or applications in Islamic economics?
- Methodology & Rigor: Are the research design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation robust and appropriate?
- Relevance & Scope: Does the manuscript align with JIES focus on Sharia-compliant economic research?
- Clarity & Structure: Is the manuscript clearly written, logically organized, and adherent to the journal’s formatting guidelines?
- Ethical Compliance: Has the research adhered to ethical standards in data collection, citations, and reporting?
- References & Citations: Are references accurate, relevant, and up-to-date?
- Practical & Theoretical Impact: Does the manuscript offer implications for academia, policy-making, or Sharia-compliant business practice?
Reviewer Report Structure
Reviewers should provide a structured report including:
- Summary: Brief overview of the manuscript’s main objectives and contributions.
- Major Comments: Key issues affecting the validity, significance, or clarity of the study.
- Minor Comments: Suggestions regarding language, formatting, citations, or minor clarifications.
- Recommendation: Choose one: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
Review Timeline & Confidentiality
- Reviewers are expected to complete reviews within 30 calendar days.
- All review contents and manuscript files must remain confidential and must not be shared externally.
- Any potential conflicts of interest must be reported immediately to the editorial office.
- Failure to comply with review deadlines or ethical standards may affect future reviewer invitations.
Ethical Guidelines
Reviewers are required to follow the COPE Ethical Guidelines, maintaining integrity, fairness, and professionalism throughout the review process.
Recognition for Reviewers
- JIES acknowledges the contribution of reviewers annually through certificates and public recognition on the journal website.
- Exceptional reviewers may receive invitations for editorial board membership or special reviewer awards.
- Reviewers may link their contributions to ORCID or Publons profiles for professional credit.
