Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of an anti-smoking campaign in increasing public awareness of smoking dangers and reducing smoking prevalence in Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency. The campaign utilized a comprehensive approach, starting with a survey to assess smoking prevalence and awareness. Based on these findings, a detailed plan was developed, outlining objectives, target audiences, key messages, and delivery methods. Campaign materials, including brochures, posters, banners, and social media content, were prepared, and the implementation team was trained on smoking dangers and effective counseling techniques. Outreach activities were conducted in strategic locations, using direct engagement methods such as lectures, group discussions, and Q&A sessions. Community leaders, religious figures, and local influencers were involved to amplify the campaign's reach. The campaign led to a significant increase in public awareness of the health risks associated with smoking, including cancer, heart disease, and respiratory disorders. Consequently, there was a notable decrease in smoking prevalence in the district. High community participation demonstrated a strong collective commitment to addressing smoking-related health issues. The campaign successfully increased public awareness and reduced smoking prevalence through a comprehensive and participatory approach. Continued efforts and sustained community engagement are essential to maintain these positive trends and further improve public health. This study highlights the importance of multifaceted and community-based strategies in effective tobacco control.
