Author Guidelines
Journal Submission Standards
Community Service Research Innovation (CSRI) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research articles, case studies, best practice reports, and conceptual papers in the fields of community service, applied social innovation, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
The journal prioritizes manuscripts that demonstrate academic rigor, methodological clarity, ethical responsibility, practical relevance, and measurable contribution to communities. Authors are required to follow these guidelines carefully before submitting manuscripts through the CSRI Online Journal System.
Mandatory Submission Requirements
Before submitting a manuscript through OJS, authors must prepare the following required files. Incomplete submissions may be returned to the author before editorial screening.
1. Full Manuscript File Complete article prepared according to the CSRI template and formatting requirements.
2. Author Data Profile Full name, affiliation, email, ORCID iD, Google Scholar ID, and Scopus ID where applicable.
3. Turnitin Similarity Report PDF similarity report with similarity index below 15%, excluding references and quotations.
4. Copyright Agreement Form Signed copyright or publishing agreement confirming compliance with journal policies.

1. Focus and Scope
Submissions must align with the journal’s focus on community service, community-based research, applied innovation, and sustainable social development. CSRI welcomes manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following areas:

2. Types of Manuscripts Accepted
Original Research Articles
Empirical studies using quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, or community-based participatory approaches.
Case Studies
Detailed analysis of community service projects, implementation processes, outcomes, and lessons learned.
Best Practice Reports
Replicable and scalable models of community intervention, empowerment, and social innovation.
Conceptual Papers
Theoretical discussion, policy perspective, or conceptual development relevant to community empowerment.
3. Manuscript Structure
Title should be concise and descriptive, maximum 15 words. Abstract should be 150–250 words and structured with Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Include 4–6 keywords.
Explain the background, community problem, research gap, urgency, novelty, objectives, and contribution of the manuscript.
Discuss relevant theory, previous studies, conceptual framework, and the rationale for the study. Authors should synthesize literature, not merely list previous findings.
Describe research design, location, participants or community partners, instruments, intervention procedures, data collection, ethical clearance, and analysis techniques.
Present findings clearly using text, tables, figures, or documentation of community intervention outcomes.
Interpret findings, compare with previous studies, explain theoretical and practical implications, and highlight community impact.
Summarize key findings, community benefits, policy or practice implications, limitations, and future development directions.
Acknowledge funding sources, collaborators, community partners, and contributors. References must follow APA 7th Edition.
4. Typography and Layout
- File format: Microsoft Word (.docx).
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt.
- Spacing: 1.5 line spacing.
- Paper size: A4.
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
- Page numbers: Bottom right corner.
- Headings: Use clear numbering and consistent title case.
5. Tables and Figures
- Tables and figures must be numbered sequentially.
- Tables must be editable, not inserted as images.
- Table titles are placed above the table.
- Figure captions are placed below the figure.
- All tables and figures must be cited in the text.
- Use high-resolution figures and clear labels.
6. Referencing Style
CSRI uses APA 7th Edition. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
Reference Requirements:
- References should be relevant, recent, and academically credible.
- At least 80% of references should come from journal articles or scholarly proceedings.
- Priority should be given to references published within the last 10 years.
- Authors are encouraged to cite reputable international journals and accredited national journals.
7. Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts are checked using Turnitin or equivalent similarity detection software. The similarity index must not exceed 15%, excluding references and direct quotations. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned for revision or rejected.
8. Ethical Considerations
- Research involving human participants must include ethical clearance where applicable.
- Authors must declare conflicts of interest.
- Funding sources must be disclosed.
- Community consent and responsible documentation are required where relevant.
9. Step-by-Step Submission Guide

Prepare Required Files
Prepare the full manuscript, author data profile, Turnitin report, and copyright agreement form before starting the OJS submission process.

Register or Log In
Authors must register or log in through the CSRI Online Journal System. Use an active email address and complete all required profile fields accurately.

Start New Submission
Select the submission language, confirm all submission requirements, agree to the copyright statement, and continue to the upload stage.

Review all information carefully. Click Finish Submission to complete the process. Authors will receive an email confirmation after successful submission.
10. Peer Review Process
CSRI applies a double-blind peer review process involving at least two expert reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on reviewer recommendations, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, and contribution to community service and social development.
11. Post-Acceptance
- Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and layout editing.
- Authors may receive proofs for final checking before publication.
- Published articles are made available through open access.
- Authors must respond promptly during the production stage.
