Abstract

Objective: The study is to assess the effects of program design and implementation quality, community participation and health education on outcomes of chronic diseases prevention and the moderating effects of SES.
Methods: Observational design was used and the data were collected from the participants of the health promotion programs of the community. A combination of structured questionnaires and direct observation was employed to assess program quality, community involvement, and health education, and social and economic status. Multiple regression and moderation analysis evaluated the direct and indirect effects on health results.
Results: Positive associations were observed between program design, community involvement, and health education, and chronic disease prevention outcomes. These relationships were moderated by child socioeconomic status, thus demonstrating that, overall, health promotion initiatives may have varying impacts across different socioeconomic strata.
Novelty: This study adds to the body of evidence regarding community-based health promotion by incorporating the role of socioeconomic factors in program effectiveness that has gone unnoticed in previous studies. It presents an integrated model that incorporates program quality, attendance, and education, along with sociodemographic inequities.
Implications for Research: Last, the results indicate that researchers should still investigate how socioeconomic factors and health program outcomes interact, in particular in culturally diverse environments. The use of integrated models that simultaneously account for direct and moderating effects in public health interventions is recommended for researchers.
