Advances in Educational Innovation (AEI) is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics in academic publishing. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and all manuscripts submitted to AEI are subject to rigorous checks to ensure originality.
Plagiarism Checks:
- Initial Screening:
- Upon submission, all manuscripts undergo an initial plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software.
- Acceptable Similarity Index:
- The acceptable similarity index for manuscripts submitted to AEI is a maximum of 12%. Manuscripts with a similarity index above this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected outright.
- Types of Plagiarism:
- Direct Plagiarism: The verbatim copying of text without quotation marks and proper citation.
- Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published work without proper citation.
- Mosaic Plagiarism: Borrowing phrases from a source without using quotation marks or finding synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original.
- Accidental Plagiarism: Unintentional failure to cite sources or paraphrase correctly.
Responsibilities of Authors:
- Ensure Originality:
- Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that any use of others’ work is properly cited and referenced.
- Proper Citation:
- Authors must properly cite all sources and include appropriate quotations where necessary.
- Acknowledgment of Sources:
- Contributions of others in the research and writing process must be appropriately acknowledged.
Consequences of Plagiarism:
- Manuscript Rejection:
- Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism beyond the acceptable threshold will be rejected without further consideration.
- Retraction:
- If plagiarism is discovered in a published article, AEI reserves the right to retract the article. A retraction notice will be issued, and the article will be removed from the journal’s online platform.
- Notification of Misconduct:
- In cases of severe plagiarism, the authors' affiliated institutions and relevant authorities may be notified of the breach of ethical standards.
Preventive Measures:
- Author Education:
- AEI provides resources and guidelines to educate authors on the importance of originality and proper citation practices.
- Ethical Guidelines:
- Authors are required to adhere to the journal’s ethical guidelines, which include explicit instructions on avoiding plagiarism.
