Reviewers serve as subject-matter experts providing critical assessments of submitted manuscripts. Their evaluations ensure:

  • Scientific accuracy and originality
  • Clarity and methodological soundness
  • Alignment with the journal’s scope and quality standards

Reviewers act as guardians of scientific integrity, helping authors refine their work while upholding the reputation of the journal.

  • Confidentiality: Manuscript contents are strictly confidential and must not be shared or used for personal or professional gain.
  • Constructive Feedback: Provide clear, detailed, and professional comments aimed at improving the manuscript.
  • Fairness & Objectivity: Evaluate impartially based on scholarly merit without personal bias or criticism.
  • Timeliness: Submit reviews within the agreed period (usually 2–3 weeks). Notify the editorial team promptly if an extension is needed.

  • Topical Relevance: Alignment with JEBI’s aims and scope.
  • Originality & Contribution: New insights, models, or empirical findings.
  • Research Methodology: Appropriate, clearly described, and robust methods.
  • Data & Analysis: Credible data and accurate, logical analysis.
  • Conclusion & Recommendations: Well-supported conclusions based on findings.
  • Writing & References: Clear writing, current and relevant references formatted in APA 7.

Feedback Icon Providing Effective Reviews

  • Use clear, specific, and professional language.
  • Support critiques with examples, suggestions, or relevant references.
  • Differentiate major versus minor revisions (e.g., theoretical gaps, missing citations, grammar).
  • Avoid vague comments; cite specific sections or sentences for clarity.

Example Comment:
Instead of: "The discussion is weak."
Try: "The discussion in Section 4 lacks references to recent studies. Consider citing Smith (2022) or Jones (2023) to strengthen theoretical support."
