Plagiarism Policy for Advances in Accounting Innovation (AAI)

Advances in Accounting Innovation (AAI) enforces a rigorous policy against plagiarism to uphold the integrity, originality, and credibility of scholarly research. The journal aligns with international standards, including COPE and Elsevier guidelines, ensuring that all published work meets the highest ethical standards.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the appropriation of another person's ideas, data, processes, or text without proper acknowledgment. Forms of plagiarism include:

  • Direct copying of text, figures, tables, or data from other sources without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another author’s work without appropriate credit.
  • Self-plagiarism: reusing one’s previously published work without citation.

2. Detection and Prevention

To maintain originality, all submissions are screened using advanced plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin. Manuscripts exhibiting a similarity index above 12% may be rejected or returned for revision. Additionally:

  • Editors and reviewers monitor for potential plagiarism throughout the peer review process.
  • Manuscripts failing to meet originality standards are subject to corrective actions before acceptance.

3. Actions Against Plagiarism

AAI takes decisive measures to address plagiarism at any stage:

  • Pre-publication: Manuscripts detected with plagiarism are immediately rejected.
  • Post-publication: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted, authors notified, and a formal retraction notice published, detailing the sources of plagiarism.
  • Offending authors may be barred from submitting future manuscripts to AAI.

4. Author Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is original and properly cites all sources and contributions.
  • Avoid excessive self-citation; provide proper references to previous work.
  • Declare that the manuscript has not been submitted or published elsewhere.
  • Use citation management tools such as Mendeley Desktop to ensure proper referencing.
  • Enhance language quality using tools like DeepL before submission.

5. Commitment to Academic Integrity

Maintaining academic honesty is central to the mission of AAI. By enforcing a strict plagiarism policy, the journal ensures that all published research is credible, reproducible, and contributes meaningfully to the advancement of accounting knowledge. Authors, reviewers, and editors collectively uphold these ethical standards to preserve the trust and reputation of the scholarly community.

Adherence to this plagiarism policy reflects AAI’s commitment to integrity, originality, and excellence, providing a reliable and ethical platform for international accounting research.
