CrossMark Policy
Upholding the Integrity and Permanence of the Scholarly Record
International Business Review (IBR) recognizes that the publishing of scholarly research is a process of permanent record. As such, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of transparency and integrity. To achieve this, IBR participates in the CrossMark initiative, a multi-publisher service that provides a standard way for readers to locate the current version of a piece of content.
What is CrossMark?
CrossMark allows libraries and researchers to quickly verify whether they are accessing the most recent and authoritative version of a document. By clicking the CrossMark logo on published articles, readers can view the document's current status and metadata, including any updates, corrections, or retractions issued by the editorial board.
The IBR Commitment to Content Stewardship
Our CrossMark policy ensures that any significant change to the "Version of Record" is clearly documented. We categorize these changes into three main types:
- Erratum/Correction: Issued when a significant error is found that does not invalidate the research results but requires clarification for accuracy.
- Retraction: Issued in cases of fundamental errors, ethical misconduct, or data invalidity that necessitate the removal of the paper’s authoritative status.
- Addenda: Additional information or supplementary data provided by the authors to enhance the original publication.
How to Access Document Status
Readers will find the CrossMark logo on the HTML and PDF versions of every article published in IBR. Clicking the icon will open a browser window displaying the current status of the article (Current, Corrected, or Retracted) and may also provide additional metadata, such as funding information or author ORCID identifiers.
Scholarly Integrity and Ethical Transparency
By implementing CrossMark, IBR aligns with international best practices in digital preservation and scholarly communication. This system guarantees that the academic community can trust the reliability and longevity of the research we host.
