Author Guidelines for Advances in Fisheries and Oceans (AFO)

1. Manuscript Preparation:

Manuscripts should be prepared in English and submitted in MS Word format.
Ensure that the manuscript follows the journal’s formatting guidelines, including margins, fonts, and spacing.
Include a title page with the title of the manuscript, names and affiliations of all authors, corresponding author’s contact information, and any acknowledgments.

2. Structure of Manuscript:

Title: Clear and concise, reflecting the main theme of the manuscript.
Abstract: Provide a structured abstract (250-300 words) summarizing the purpose, methods, results, and conclusions of the study.
Keywords: Include 5-8 keywords that accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.
Introduction: Clearly state the objectives and rationale of the study, including a brief literature review to contextualize the research.
Materials and Methods: Describe the study design, methodology, and analytical techniques in sufficient detail to allow replication.
Results: Present the findings of the study objectively and concisely, using tables, figures, and graphs as appropriate to enhance clarity.
Discussion: Interpret the results in the context of existing literature, discuss implications, and highlight novel findings.
Conclusion: Summarize the main findings and their implications for future research or practical applications.

3. References:

Follow APA style (7th edition) for referencing. Ensure all references cited in the text are listed in the reference list, and vice versa.
Provide DOIs for all applicable references where available.

4. Figures and Tables:

Include all figures and tables within the manuscript, each with a concise title and explanatory legend.
Ensure figures are of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and in editable formats (e.g., TIFF, EPS, or MS Office files).

5. Ethical Considerations:

Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research and publication ethics, including plagiarism, authorship, and data management guidelines.
Provide statements on ethical approval for studies involving human or animal subjects, if applicable.

6. Submission Process:

Manuscripts should be submitted online via the journal’s submission system.
Include a cover letter with the submission, detailing the novelty and significance of the research and confirming that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere.

7. Review Process:

All manuscripts undergo peer review by experts in the field. Authors can suggest potential reviewers (with their contact information) during submission.
Reviewers’ comments will be provided to authors to revise their manuscript accordingly.
