 Disciplinary focus: Midwifery & Maternal–Infant Care

Innovation Midwifery and Child Health Practice (IMCHP) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing knowledge, evidence, and innovation in midwifery, maternal, newborn, and infant health. The journal publishes research that contributes to the safety, quality, effectiveness, equity, and experience of care across the reproductive and maternal–infant continuum.

IMCHP particularly welcomes research addressing care from preconception and pregnancy through labour and birth, the postpartum period, newborn care, and infancy, with emphasis on the contribution of midwives, maternity-care professionals, families, communities, and health systems to improving maternal and infant outcomes.

The journal encourages methodologically rigorous research from diverse geographical, socioeconomic, and health-system settings. Interdisciplinary studies are considered when the principal research question remains directly relevant to midwifery, maternity care, maternal health, newborn health, or infant health.

Editorial Scope Boundary

Out of Scope

IMCHP does not ordinarily consider manuscripts focused exclusively on general pediatrics beyond the maternal–newborn–infant continuum, pediatric surgery, general nursing, general public health, hospital administration, biomedical laboratory research, pharmacology, dentistry, or health technologies without a clear and substantive connection to midwifery, maternity care, maternal health, newborn health, or infant health.

Innovation Midwifery and Child Health Practice (IMCHP) is committed to publishing research that is scientifically rigorous, ethically responsible, transparent, and relevant to the advancement of midwifery and maternal–infant health.

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening for relevance to the journal's aims and scope, scholarly quality, methodological appropriateness, originality, research ethics, and compliance with author guidelines. Manuscripts meeting the editorial requirements proceed to peer review in accordance with journal policy. IMCHP supports internationally recognized principles of publication ethics, including guidance developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
